The Pack Square Conservancy commissioned La Quatra Bonci Associates and ColeJenest & Stone to return historic Pack Square to the vibrant pedestrian-friendly gathering space it once was and provide new park space in the central core of downtown. The final plan involved the restoration of historic Pack Square, the creation of a great lawn and green as an anchor, the development of a central Visitors’ Plaza and reestablishment of the historic street grid. The new 6 acre, $15M park spans three city blocks and is a catalyst for development. It fulfills Asheville’s heritage as a festival city with various performance venues. The project received a Merit award from the North Carolina Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. ColeJenest & Stone provided civil engineering, landscape architecture and Urban Design.
