ColeJenest & Stone provided landscape architecture and civil engineering design services for this $11 million project located on nine acres in Pittsboro, NC. The project includes a LEED Gold certified 25,000 SF joint-use library, and a LEED Platinum certified 22,000 SF sustainable technologies classroom building. ColeJenest & Stone designed a “model sustainable landscape,” and worked closely with Integrated Water Strategies to integrate a biological water treatment system into the site design. Brown water is treated to provide for toilets, the cooling tower as well as irrigation. This innovative project provides an aggressive approach to stormwater design and treatment. The site plan also focuses on maximizing solar orientation and connecting the buildings and users with the pastoral landscape context.
