ColeJenest & Stone is proud to have provided Civil Engineering and Landscape Architecture services to another local project. Barnhill Contracting has begun construction on a $20 million, 35,000-square-foot facility that will connect Bojangles’ Coliseum and Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte. Currently, the two venues are only separated by a parking lot, and this project will join the two together by constructing a two-story link between the facilities.
The project will kick off next year and is expected to be complete sometime in 2019. The facility will feature a 7,600-square-foot shared lobby and office space, 2,200-square restroom addition and a pedestrian walkway. This project follows a $16.5 million renovation to the Coliseum itself that was completed in the summer of 2015, in preparation for the Checkers’ return to Bojangles’ Coliseum after spending 10 years at what is now known as Spectrum Center in uptown Charlotte. The connection and expansion project is seen as a welcome addition to the area surrounding the Checkers’ home arena and we’re so happy to be part of a project that will be enjoyed by the public.
